Not that long ago, when a deck would start showing signs of wear the only option you would have is to remove the pressure treated wooden decking and install new pressure treated wooden decking. Essentially you would restart the cycle of maintenance and replacement all over again with the new decking: Wait for the new decking to dry out and get stained, then pressure wash it and apply another coat of stain every one to two years.

Low-maintenance composite decking has revolutionized the deck-building market. With the introduction of low-maintenance composite decking, you can now turn your wood deck into a low-maintenance paradise while retaining the frame and structure.

You save money with deck replacement because you don’t have to tear out the framing and build a new structure to support your decking boards. We simply remove the decking boards and railing — the pieces that get the most wear — and install new low-maintenance composite decking.

For an average size deck, your savings could be in the ballpark of $1,500 to $2,500.

If the structure is in good shape and you are happy with the layout you have today, this is a very good approach to getting your dream deck for less.

We always start with an inspection of the existing structure. Naturally, you don’t want to make this investment on a structure that’s on its last leg. We’re concerned for your safety and won’t resurface a deck that won’t be safe longer term. After all, the composite boards we’re laying down are warranted for 25 years — you need the framing and structure to last at least that long, too.

In addition, keep in mind that going to a low-maintenance product now opens your choices up to all sorts of innovative and cool products. Composite decking is available in a lot of colors and styles, not to mention the creative ways we can lay the boards to achieve different effects. Add on top of that the different styles of railings available, and the options are endless. You can also add deck lights, benches, pergolas and many other features.

Don’t worry — our custom design experts can work with you to zero in on the choices that will best suit your use needs, aesthetic desires, and budget.

Even with deck replacement, though, your decking, railings, and other selections will also play a big part in your final cost. Check out our blog to find out “How Much Does It Cost to Build a Deck?” Or, better yet, contact us today for a free estimate!
