Hi, my name is Neil Stelkic. I’ve worked at Woodland Deck Company since I was 14 years old. Starting that young gave me a lot of experience in this industry, along with more mistakes than I care to admit. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a team of talented young men (who tend to give me more grace than I deserve). I’ve also been fortunate to meet lifelong friends at Woodland; people I likely wouldn’t have gotten the chance to know otherwise. I’ve been blessed with incredible mentors during my time at Woodland who helped shape me, teaching a young, reckless boy how to work a trade well, get along with teammates, care about his craft, and do it all unto the Lord.
I genuinely love our customers, especially the ones I get to work closely with. As a project lead, my role is essentially organizing a deck from the point it is sold to the final product. That includes coordinating with cities, suppliers, and the homeowners we serve. Our team is committed to doing the job well and maintaining a high professional standard. I try to communicate clearly and understand each customer’s vision so we can best make that happen.
As the oldest of seven siblings, my childhood was never short on chaos. I grew up playing backyard sports with my cousins, and even at a young age, the competition was strong. I was homeschooled for most of my life, which gave me unique opportunities to learn about the world and people in ways the average student might not. I believe that opened a love for learning that I have not lost since.
Most of my interests revolve around history, psychology, and philosophy. The eras I’ve found most interesting are revolutionary Russia and Ancient Greece. I’m drawn to understanding why people believe what they believe, how cultures rise and fall, and what shapes character over time. Outside of that, I enjoy backpacking, sports, and spending time with friends. I try to live intentionally, take responsibility seriously, and approach both work and life like I mean it.
