THE OPPORTUNITY
Woodland Deck Company is a growth-oriented business looking for a hands-on finance leader who wants to build, not simply maintain. You will own the accuracy and integrity of our financial operation while using modern technology and AI to eliminate repetitive work. Success in this role will be measured by accurate and timely financial reporting, reliable cash visibility, disciplined accounting processes, and improvements that reduce manual work and support better business decisions.
You will run day-to-day finance and accounting, report to the General Manager, and work closely with the owner and leadership team. As Woodland grows in size and complexity, the scope, influence, and leadership opportunity of this role can grow with it.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Reliable numbers – lead the monthly close and deliver timely financial statements, dashboards, forecasts, and decision-ready insight.
- Cash and accounting operations – own cash visibility, AR/AP, payroll, 401(k) administration, reconciliations, purchasing, and disciplined payment workflows.
- Job economics and cost control – strengthen job costing, budgets, inventory visibility, margin analysis, and accountability for spending across the company.
- Systems, automation, and AI – simplify workflows, connect information, eliminate repetitive work, and build finance and office systems that scale.
- Business partnership – turn financial information into clear recommendations and help leaders understand performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Controls and compliance – maintain practical safeguards, coordinate insurance, policies, filings, and outside accounting or professional partners as needed.
- Team and administrative support – support staffing and core HR administration while bringing structure, follow-through, and accountability to a growing organization.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Hands-on experience – 3-7 years in accounting, finance, or business operations, including meaningful responsibility for monthly close, cash management, and financial reporting.
- Financial fluency – you understand how transactions flow through the financial statements and can move comfortably from details to the business story behind them.
- A builder’s mindset – you improve processes, learn new technology quickly, and create useful structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Clear communication – you ask good questions, explain financial information in plain language, surface issues early, and follow through.
- Helpful experience – work in construction, project-based businesses, inventory, job costing, or growing owner-led companies is valuable, but not required.
